He married, second, after 1860, Eliza F. -----. She was born circa 1835, England or Wales, and died after 1880.
In 1841 (age 12) he was listed as a miner. In 1851, he was listed as a coal miner.
Family sources state that they emigrated to PA in 1867 with three children, but census records prove they were in PA by 1857.
Walter, Caroline, and Zachariah Whitney emigrated to America on the ship Wyoming, departing from Liverpool, England, and arriving in Philadelphia on 21 Jun 1852. They had three boxes of clothing and bedding. With them was the family of Walter's Aunt Leah (Whitney) Morgan.
