He is found in census records as Washington W. Whitney, and his grave marker reads Washington Whitney. He was a farmer, being found in census records from 1880 through 1920 in Island Co., WA. He apparently never married, and died s.p. Throughout these records he is found cohabiting with Martha Jane Annis as brother and sister. No record has yet been found that he had a sister Martha Jane Whitney. Both Washington Whitney and Martha Jane Annis are buried in Maple Leaf Cemetery in Oak Harbor, WA.
