From: Jan Whitaker<janwhit -at- ma.ultranet.com > Subject: Capt. Samuel Whitney of Monson, MA & Me Date: Sat, 29 Aug 1998 10:40:32 -0400 Dear WRG's, I found the above name in an article in the Bangor Historical/Maine Historical Magazine, which said that Capt Samuel came to Monson, Me in the spring of 1820, "along with Justin Cotton, Wm.A.Hyde, Calvin Cotton, Lucius Hyde, Roay Day, Austin Newell& Horation Sherman, all of the same town, and who settled here and became permanent citizens." I found on the Monson Me homepage, that they all came from Monson,MA in May 1820. The town was incorporated in 1822, and Samuel Whitney was elected Town Clerk and Selectman. Since we don't have any published Monson, Ma VR's, but they are found in the Corbin Collection, Does anyone have any data on this Samuel? I am attempting to identify all Samuel Whitneys in Maine ca 1800, in order to locate an ancestor. Thanks for any help offered :-) Jan
