From: "Jeanne Muse" <jwmuse -at- compuserve.com> Subject: [WHITNEY-L] Searchable GenServ Guestbook added Date: Tue, 17 Aug 1999 15:46:58 -0400 Hello all! Like many of you, I have been using the GenServ system for many years and contributed my Gedcom files to it. I received the following in their "What's New" letter this week. Since it's free for anyone, I thought I'd pass it along!

- ---------------------------- About four years ago, we noticed a change in the GenServ GuestBook messages. People were using the GuestBook as a query board. That was a good idea because the messages were left on the GuestBook for a long period of time. For almost four years the GenServ GuestBook messages have been archived waiting for the time when we could provide this service. We have a new server with a new search program written by Anthony Papineau, author of GED4WEB, just for the GuestBook messages. It has 3+ years of Guestbook messages available for your research. Thousands of messages, surnames, email addresses and names of those who posted the messages. - - And SEARCHABLE - - * This service is FREE with no limits of requests to anyone. * Please go SIGN our GenServ GuestBook again. This time think of it as a query board. Post several queries about all of your lines. We will be posting the new messages in our GuestBook to the new search area about once a week. Post often to our GenServ GuestBook and we hope you will find this a good tool for your family research. * For you this may also be the time to send us a new GEDCOM data file * as a replacement for the one we have.... if so, Please do that. Where is it ? The URL for the new server is: http://raven.genserv.net/search.htm Please note: The above URL has .net in it. This URL is only for the Guestbook Search system.
