Jeanne (Whitney) Muse ----- Original Message ----- From: Kimberly Oakley, wwkr -at- hitter.net To: jwmuse -at- compuserve.com Sent: Sunday, March 12, 2000 10:35 PM Subject: RE: Whitney I have been searching for my grandfather's ancestors and have had no luck. My great-grandfather's name was Elwood Whitney. He married Katherine Bruce. My grandfather was born in Muncie, Indiana. He Frederick Elwood Whitney) was born on September 7, 1915. From what my mother has told me she thinks he was the only child. His father Elwood passed away when he was just a toddler (atleast that is the information I am getting). His mother and him moved to Florida. She later married a man named Harry Taylor. Once again I am not sure if she married him in Florida or in Indiana. There is little information for me to go on. I know my grandfather played for the University of Florida in 1937- 1939 under the name Ted Taylor. He changed his name back to Frederick Elwood Whitney right before he married my grandmother Gretchen Lurlene Von Kaas. He then entered World War ll. under his given name. My grandfather passed away on July 2, 1982 in Daytona Beach, Florida. I was only eight. I would like so much to find out more about his family. He meant the world to me and he still does. I want to find his ancestors. I want to find out more about where his family came from. Please assist me in any way that you can. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. Kimberly Oakley
