From: "Robert L. Ward" <rlward1 -at- erols.com> Subject: [WHITNEY-L] Whitney Carriage Company Date: Sun, 17 Sep 2000 20:43:57 -0400 Dear Wrbunny, Probably you have long since gotten an answer to your question, but perhaps not. The name of the company who manufactured baby carriages in Leominster, MA, was the F. A. Whitney Co. (not J. A.). It was formed by Francis Austin Whitney and Francis Wolfe Whitney, a pair of cousins. For them, see <http://www.whitneygen.org/archives/extracts/pierce/p476-480.htm#P4380> <http://www.whitneygen.org/archives/extracts/pierce/p281-285.htm#P2046> There is a discussion of the company here: <http://hometown.aol.com/Leominster476/Whitney.html>, and pictures of some of its carriages at the following web page: <http://hometown.aol.com/Leominster476/Carriage.html>. Two pictures of their plant, dated 1888 and 1923, can be found at: <http://www.net1plus.com/users/LOISELLE/leomi.htm>. I hope this helps! Regards, Robert Robert L.
