From: "Kenneth Whitney" <klw1 -at- starpower.net> Subject: [WHITNEY-L] F.C. Pierce Date: Mon, 30 Oct 2000 19:18:56 -0500 WRG: Jeanne Muse's query about the disposition of her genealogical research material started me thinking. Back in the late 19th century when F.C. Pierce was writing his Whitney genealogy, there must have been a great deal of paper generated. The project that he took on was huge, trying to accomplish the full pedigree of descendants of John and Elinor. Communication links for him must have been mostly by mail. Keeping the records and sources must have created quite a large collection. So, I wonder what ever happened to all of that material. It seems like many histories and genealogies were writen at that time, so what did authors commonly do with the source material? I know I would be hard pressed to put the torch to all of that material. Wouldn't it be unbelievable to be able to see the source material for Pierce's work? I'd love know where some of it came from. Anyone out there have any idea what was done with this material in those days? How could we find out? Ken Whitney Silver Spring, MD
