From: ALLAGREEN -at- aol.com Subject: [WHITNEY-L] Teresa's response on Whitneygen about John Lemuel Whitney Date: Thu, 7 Dec 2000 00:15:10 EST Dear Holly: In my opinion, there are thousands and thousands of descendants of John and Elinor Whitney that have not been identified or connected to this pair of immigrant ancestors. We of the Whitney Research Group are constantly working to expand our knowledge of the descendants of this and other Whitney immigrant families, particularly that of Henry of Long Island and Norwalk, CT, and the Whitneys of Virginia. In addition, I have begun to try to find out where the Whitneys that were in Maryland in the 18th and 19th centuries came from. What is published on family lineage CD's or is available at Ancestry.com or on the LDS Family Search (Ancestral File) represent only a part of what is already known about this family of ours, and in many cases is notably inaccurate. Have you searched yourself on the WRG website? If not, and you would like some assistance in doing so, please write to me and I will try to guide you in doing a search efficiently. At this point, your John Lemuel Whitney could be a part of any number of different origins, and we need to try to help you find a route back from him to the point where you could connect to other known lineages. Good Luck in your search. Allan E. Green
