From: ALLAGREEN -at- aol.com Subject: [WHITNEY-L] Reposting of old item Date: Sun, 10 Dec 2000 00:04:15 EST Dear WRG: In trying to bring some order out of the chaos of my electronic files of Whitney stuff in my AOL filing cabinet (which currently has 13,600 items in it), I came upon this neat question I posted in July of 1998. I don't ever remember getting a response, so I thought I would copy and paste it into a new message and try again. After all, there are well over 100 people in the WRG today who weren't around at that time. Happy Holidays *********** Dear WRG: I am continuing to try to extend many of the lines beyond Robert Ward's outstanding 6-Generation study of the descent of John-1, using the Vital Records to follow the lines down to children of the 7th and 8th generations wherever possible. In the process I come across little oddities occasionally. I just found one that I have to throw out to see if anyone has anything to contribute to what I think might be an interesting line of descent if we could follow it up. In Leominster, MA, I found a marriage for: Charlotte B. [Whitney], of Lunenburg, and Hiram Walker, Jan. 20, 1842. I seem to remember from my youth that there was a Whiskey by that name. I would be curious to know if this Hiram Walker was indeed the man for whom that beverage was named - and why! Happy Hunting:-) Allan E. Green
