According to a search on the internet they also have something to do with naval aircraft history. Wonder if Pratt Read & Co was the predecessor of Pratt Whitney? I was looking up this information just as a curiosity. My Grandfather Emmett Whitney, was a great pianist. He built and repaired pianos as well. He worked with a Mr. Read. How ironic that two men totally unconnected before, come together to work on pianos when it seems like maybe their ancestors may have been in business together years before.
