From: "harrison" <harrisonfamily1 -at-> Subject: Re: [WHITNEY-L] talents Date: Sun, 3 Aug 2003 10:19:13 -0500 References: <004901c35907$a7689d00$> On the topic of musical talent, I wish to point out that my father's first cousin, Major Ernest Whitney, now deceased, played a mean fiddle. Almost to the end of his life he played for the residents of a local nursing home and said that his fiddle could play "Little Brown Jug" without him. (He also had an impressive thirty year career in the US Army, rising from the ranks to become an officer during the Korean Conflict.) My brother Bill's son, William Austin Whitney, recently graduated from college with a double major in music and education, and music in some form or another will be his life. On the other hand, my father, Austin Calderwood Whitney, was tone deaf and knew two songs, one of which was "Yankee Doodle" and the other one, which wasn't. My son is singing in a rock band, and where that will go is anybody's guess. I should like to pint out aht all these people are also related to my sister, Marion Martin.
