From: R R Kyser <sorryken -at- att.net> Subject: Elinor Whitney Field, co-founder of the Horn Book Date: Fri, 8 Oct 2004 02:48:37 -0500 There doesn't seem to be any mention on the WRG site of Elinor Whitney Field, a bookseller who in 1924 co-founded the Horn Book magazine for children's literature with Bertha Mahony Miller. According to one of the articles below, she died in 1980 at 91. The SSDI has Elinor Field, b. 27 Dec 1889. The IGI has two entries with that birthdate: an Elinor born in Boston to "Theodore T." and "Annie M.", with no further information; and one born to Theodore Train Whitney and Annie Caroline Mann, in Lakewood, N.J. Does she ring a bell with anyone? (Or rather, toot a horn?)
