From: "Ken and Carol Whitney" <klw1 -at- starpower.net> Subject: Re: [WHITNEY-L] Rev. John Whitney Burial, Lagrange, Maine Date: Mon, 5 Dec 2005 23:40:41 -0500 References: <000801c5f9e8$20131ea0$339fc741@your03667082de> WRG and Larry Tracy, I believe I have figured out who were some of the Whitneys buried in LaGrange. Gershom K. Whitney was born ca 1842. He was the son of Ephraim and Lucy (Nash McCaslin) Whitney of Columbia, Washington Co., Maine. Ephraim married Lucy in Columbia 14 Sept 1841. Gershom had a brother named Claudius M., born ca 1848. Gershom's ancestry is: John1, Benjamin2, Nathaniel3, Nathan4, Nathan5, Nathan6, Ephraim7, Gershom K.8. In the 1880 census for Medway, Penobscot, Maine we find Ephraim and Lucy in one household, and a few doors away are Gershom K. and Mary E.Whitney and family. Gershom, age 36 Mary E., age 35 Charles M., age 15 Claudius M., age 14 Clara M., age 6 Winifred H., age 3 Mary L., age 7/12 So, it looks like buried in LaGrange are Gershom K. Whitney, his wife Mary E., and daughter Mary Ladd. Melville C. could have been any of three family members: Gershom's brother Claudius M., or one of his sons, Charles M. or Claudius M. Who the rest of the unidentified are, I cannot tell.
