Date: Wed, 01 Mar 2006 18:39:32 -0500 Dear Robert L. Ward and Tim Doyle and WRG, We have already been through this several times, bUT I think I found the mistake to the PRONUNCIATION of Worcester Massachusetts....AND Wourcester County, Mass. I was looking through my earlier posts and I found a post by someone. The person was talking about Worchester, Mass. There is NO H in Worcester, Massachusetts OR Worcester County, Mass. If you put the H there you would pronounce it... Were and Chester....There is NO H so therefore it is pronounced....as the card game of WHIST with an a on the end....(Boston accent)(no R) I did a search of the name RAND on the website....(whitney gen.org) This is what came up...RAND....Elizabeth b. 1 Feb 1767 in Westminster, Worchester Mass. (No H) you have an H listed) d. AFTER 1830 Rutland, VT.... family.... Phinehas Whitney b. 16 Jan 1761 Westminster, MA. You know all those RAND WHITNEY trucks were going up and down ROUTE 146 to Worcester, Mass.It is a Trucking Company in Worcester, Mass. P.S. ALSO in doing some research it says that Charles Whitney was the father of James Whitney? Thank you, Maureen (Cooley...from VT.MA. NH. NY and CT.) OUR COOLEY family stayed in Mass. Let me know about the H....Maureen _________________________________________________________________ On the road to retirement?
