You will find information about Robert W. Whitney in "History of Ohio", Vol. 6, pg. 385, by Galbreath.. He was in Berkshire Twp., Delaware Co., Ohio, a Civil War Vet. having been in Co. H, 121st Ohio Vol. Infantry. His rank a Sgt. He was wounded in the left side by his arm, he had varicose veins in his legs <g>. He enlisted 18 Aug., 1862 and was discharged 8 June, 1865, served 2 yr., 9 m. and 22 d. His P.O. addy in Delaware Co. was Sunbury. By his tombstone at Sunbury is (was?) a GAR marker. Tombstone date 1844 - 1926. His wife was Angeline De Good (1844-1937). You will find him on the various census reports, the one in 1900 finds him as the enumerator recording his family. There's your signature if he is your man. He was the son of Horace Whitney and Eliza (Swallow) of R.I. His children were Oatfield W. (also found in "History of Ohio". He was born15 Dec., 1881 near Sunbury. Oatfield married Pearl Green at Johnstown, Licking Co., Ohio 10 Oct., 1902, Pearl the daughter of Homer N. and Rovena (Van Fossen) Green from Virginia, and Oatfield's children were Oatfield W., William H., Hoyt G. Ben
