Found an ad dated August 21, 1949 for Bloomingdale's with a banner which proclaimed: "It's August for Furniture" Whitney birch! 3-piece bedroom, now sale-priced $199 Regularly 246.50 Save 47.50! Get solid wood, solid value! Whitney furniture is well-known for unstinting construction, pleasing design and finish. In this set, every part is solid birch, carefully chosen for grain that will look well under its soft maple finish (no camouflaging here!) Set consists of dresser and mirror, chest and either a twin or full size bed. Other display ads in The Times showed dining and living room furniture made by Whitney furniture. Also, found a May 23, 1935 obituary for Louis Viehmann, president of the Tee Pee Whitney Furniture Corporation of Long Island City. He died in the Railroad Y.M.C.A. 224 East Forty-seventh Street, Manhattan, of an acute heart attack. Mr. Viehmann, whose home is at 144 Center Drive, Douglaston, was living at the Y.M.C.A. while his wife and three children were at their Summer home in Wittenburg, N.Y.
