Clipper Ship Beverly Medium clipper ship, 676 tons. Owners, Isreal Whitney and William Perkins of Boston. She was built in 1852 by P. Curtis. She sailed from Boston to San Francisco in 144 days, arriving October 1, 1852. Later she sailed from Calcutta to Boston in 83 days, arriving on January 4, 1856; the second fastest passage on record. In 1862 she was chased by the Confederate privateer Florida but escaped.
