Ward" <Robert -at- RLWard.com> Subject: [WHITNEY] More Massachusetts Vital Records Date: Tue, 15 Apr 2008 21:12:13 -0400 All, The New England Historic Genealogical Society web site <a href="http://www.newenglandancestors.org">http://www.newenglandancestors.org</a> has an index to all Massachusetts vital records from 1841 to 1910. They also have on-line most of the vital records themselves (but not all). I have just completed transcribing that index onto the vital record pages for each town in Massachusetts. There are a total of 9,114 such records (!!!). Each index entry gives the surname ("Whitney" in all cases), given name, town, year, volume number, page number, and kind of event (birth, marriage, or death). To see the full information, one needs to be a member of the NEHGS, or to have a member get it for you. Tim Doyle and I are both members, as may be other folks in the WRG. The full information often gives names of parents, residences, birthplaces, occupations, ages, and so on, and can be very useful.
