From: Tim Doyle <tim -at-> Subject: Re: [WHITNEY] Original Copy of Pierce or Melville Date: Fri, 1 May 2009 08:34:16 -0500 References: <002101c9c5c2$9ddb44d0$2201a8c0@Quinnebaugh> In-Reply-To: <002101c9c5c2$9ddb44d0$2201a8c0@Quinnebaugh> Ken: Yes, this transcription was undertaken by this group and a project which I coordinated. It is the photographs that we are now attempting to integrate with this transcription. Our transcription of the Melville book can be found at . This book outlines the early history of the Whitney family of Whitney, Herefordshire and also mentions several other Whitney families in England. It purported to show the ancestry of the American immigrant John Whitney and his connection to the Whitneys of Whitney, a connection which has now been disproven. Even though the link between John's father Thomas Whitney and the earlier Whitneys is now known not to have been as stated in this book, the book still contains much valid and very valuable information. Note that several of us are actively researching the Whitneys of England and Wales in an attempt to discover the true ancestry of the various American immigrants. To date we have obtained hundreds of court cases, wills, administration account records, etc. in this endeavor. Thanks!
