My 5th great grandmother was Amy (Whitney) Britton, born 3 Feb 1793 in New Scotland, Albany county, New York, and died 8 Oct 1856 in Green Bay, Brown county, Wisconsin. This website has been a tremendous boon to my research. When I discovered Amy's maiden name, I came across the Phoenix book on Ancestry.com and used it as a guide to extend my Whitney line. I verify each generation with original sources, so my work became easier once I found the WRG, because much of it was already done for me.
