:Sir. Martin Stuteville (Stotevill) of Dalham in Risbridge Hundred, co. Suffolk, of which manor his family had been possessed since 1417. Sir Martin was born at Dalham about 1569, son and heir of Thomas Stotevill, Esq., and Anne Whitney, his wife, and died 13 June 1631. Stuteville was an intimate friend of Joseph Mead and the latter spent much time at Dalham. Mead's news-letters to Sir Martin fill two folio volumes at the British Museum (Harl., 389, 390) and cover the years 1620-1631. Each week Mead had a news-letter from London which he forwarded to Sir Martin with his own comments added.

:Stuteville was on intimate terms with Sir Simonds D'Ewes and his family, and is mentioned in the latter's "Autobiography", passim.
