Temple's History of Framingham (1887) seems to be the undocumented original source for the alleged first marriage of Daniel Shays to a widow Eunice <del class="diffchange diffchange-inline"></del>Hayden<del class="diffchange diffchange-inline"></del>. This is repeated in DAR Lineage Books 59:65; 135:24. He did marry (intentions at Brookline, Mass., 18 July 1772 [Brookfield VRs, 405]) Abigail <del class="diffchange diffchange-inline"></del>Gilbert<del class="diffchange diffchange-inline"></del>, who was born 16 June 1748, daughter of Jonathan and Abigail (<del class="diffchange diffchange-inline"></del>Olds<del class="diffchange diffchange-inline"></del>) Gilbert. According to tradition they were married in the kitchen of Daniel Gilbert's house in North Brookfield. He was no relation.
