There were apparently two separate George W. Whitney men living in Essex Co., NY, at the same time. One is the above, and the other is the unmarried son of [[Family:Whitney, Rudolph (1850-1918)|Rudolph (1850-1918) and Sarah (Blinn) Whitney]], q.v. Both are listed in the 1900 census. They were apparently both born in Dec 1871 in NY.

Whitney men living in Essex Co., NY, at the same time, both listed in the 1900 census.  One is the married man above, and the other is the unmarried son of [[Family:Whitney, Rudolph (1850-1918)|Rudolph (1850-1918) and Sarah (Blinn) Whitney]], q.v.  They were apparently both born in Dec 1871 in NY.  Since this man cannot be found before 1900, and the other cannot be found after 1900, it suggests a theory:  these were the same man, and the 1900 census of his parents family lists him as single in error.  This seems probable, and I have adopted that theory above.  Perhaps deeds or probate records may confirm or refute this identification.
