He married, 17 Aug 1839, Rye, NY, '''Maria Frances Phillips''', daughter of John and Abigail (Ogden) Phillips. She was born 14 Jul 1818, Fairfield, CT, and died 1 Feb 1852, Derby, CT.

Phoenix says the following:
:"Henry Whitney, b. in New York City, 14 Nov. 1802; married, 17 Aug. 1839, at Rye, N. Y., Maria Frances Phillips, born at Fairfield, Conn., 14 July 1818, dau. of John and Abigail (Ogden) Phillips, of Bridgeport, Conn. They settled at Derby, Conn., where he held the offices of town-clerk and judge of probate. She died 1 Feb. 1852. He died at Birmingham, Conn., 29 July 1862, and was buried in the Birmingham Cemetery."
