I'm currently trying to identify the Mary Whitney who married [[:en:John S. Phelps|John Smith Phelps]], who became Governor of Missouri. This Mary was fairly famous herself. This Mary was supposedly born 5 Jan "1812" and was variously of Buffalo or Portland, Maine. I suspect that she may have been the Maria Whitney in your Bible record, born 5 Jan 1817.
