Edward8 Whitney (Joseph7, Palmer6, Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), born Java, New York, 7 Aug 1829; died 17 Aug 1909. Red Oak, Iowa[1].

He married 6 Jul 1868. Iola, Kansas, Catherine Ann Plouch[2], daughter of Everard and Nancy H. (Irwin) Plouch. She was born 26 Oct 1846[3], and died 25 Feb 1903, Red Oak, Iowa[4]. He was a carpenter. Resided Red Oak, Iowa.

Edward Whitney enrolled 1 Oct 1861, Fulton City, Whiteside Co., Illinois, in Co. F of the 52nd Infantry Illinois Volunteers. He was mustered in as a Private on 19 Nov 1861, Geneva, Kane Co., Illinois, and was mustered out as a Private on 20 Nov 1864, Monticello, Jasper Co., Georgia[5].

According to their marriage license, on 6 Jul 1868 Edward and Catherine were both “of Allen Co., Kansas”. Edward was thirty-five years of age, and Catherine, twenty one.

Edward and Catherine moved to Red Oak, Iowa shortly after their marriage and remained there for the remainder of their lives.
