Jonas8 Whitney (Jonathan7, Nathan6, Jonathan5, Jonathan4, Jonathan3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jonathan7 and Betsey (-----) Whitney; born Albion, New York, 15 Mar 1824; married in Bergen, New York, 17 Jul 1842, Emeline Pollay, born 20 Oct 1822.
He was born in Albion, Orleans County, New York, and his wife in Erie County, in the same state. He resided in Albion until 1869, and followed his trade, that of harness maker. He moved to Iowa and Kansas in 1890; resided Canandaigua, New York, and Lone Elm, Kansas.
Children of Jonas8 and Emeline (Pollay) Whitney:
i. Louisa Jeanette9 Whitney, born 16 Sep 1843; married 10 Jan 1866, F. Chatterdon; resided Lone Elm, Kansas. They have 3 sons. ii. Herbert Jonas Whitney, born 5 Jul 1853; married Mary E. Kelly. iii. Frank Pollay Whitney, born 3 Feb 1857; married 26 Jul 1882, Stella A. Schisca; resided Lee County, Illinois; 3 ch. iv. Charles Murray Whitney, born 20 Sep 1845; married Julia A. Nelson.
