Edward8 Whitney (Joseph7, Palmer6, Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), son of Joseph7 and Sophronia (Taylor) Whitney, was born 7 Aug 1829, Java, NY, and died 17 Aug 1909, Red Oak, IA.[1]

He married 6 Jul 1868, Iola, KS, Catherine Ann Plouch,[2] daughter of Everard and Nancy H. (Irwin) Plouch. She was born 26 Oct 1846,[3] and died 25 Feb 1903, Red Oak, IA.[4] He was a carpenter. Resided Red Oak, IA.

Edward Whitney enrolled 1 Oct 1861, Fulton City, Whiteside Co., IL, in Co. F of the 52nd Infantry Illinois Volunteers. He was mustered in as a Private on 19 Nov 1861, Geneva, Kane Co., IL, and was mustered out as a Private on 20 Nov 1864, Monticello, Jasper Co., GA.[5]
