James Harvey⁸ Whitney (James⁷, Josiah⁶, Josiah⁵, Richard⁴, Richard³, Richard², John¹), son of James⁷ and Anna (Goss) Whitney, was born 16 Sep 1829, Peterborough, NH, and died after 1880.

He married, 1 Mar 1853, Mary Jane Smith, daughter of Samuel and Sally (Johnson) Smith. She was born about 6 Apr 1833, Barton, VT, and died 11 Feb 1908, Boston, MA, aged 75 years 10 months 5 days, of cerebral hemorrhage.^[1]

He resided Peterborough and Nashua, NH, and Norwich, CT.
