1889, Dec. 31: William Whitney died suddenly on Dec. 26 at his residence, Mont Clare, Flatts. He was born on Dec. 16, 1821, "a member of the old Whitney family of New York". He was appointed Deputy U.S. Consul to Bermuda in 1872, married on Jan. 27, 1875, to Miss Frances Hill, daughter of the late John Hill. He was also a founder of the Whitney Institute. 1509
1892, June 28: Miss Jane A. Whitney of Bridgeport, Conn., aged 73, sister of the late William Whitney of Mont Clare, Bermuda, died on June 7 in Bridgeport at the residence of her brother, John D. Whitney. ( Bridgeport Farmer, June 9 ) 1509

1905, Nov. 21: H. Willis Whitney of Bermuda married Miss Jessie Whitby of Montreal on Nov. 15 at St. Mary's Church, Warwick. The bride is the daughter of the late Henry Charles Whitby, merchant of Montreal, and was married from the home of Frederick Frith, the head of the firm with which the groom is chief clerk. The groom is the only son of John Walker Whitney of Turks Islands. The couple are to live at "Waterview". 1509
1909, June 5: Mrs. Joanna Shoemaker, widow of Hon. G.O. Whitney, of Hamilton, Bermuda, married Asher Francis Black on April 27 at Mount Airy, Penn. Mr. Black was a former well-known merchant of Malden, Mass. The couple will go eventually to Mr. Black's summer home on Cliff Island, and next winter to Bermuda, where Mrs. Black has a beautiful home. (Malden Evening Mail, April 30) 1510
1913, June 19: Miss Whitney, daughter of the late George O. Whitney of Eagle's Nest, Pembroke, is the widow of Charles H. Wood of Meridian, N.J., who died there on June 5. He was a young man, and had been a regular visitor to Bermuda for many years. 1510
