Allen Montgomery Clement, who was elected a Pilgrim Tercentenary member 30 July 1919, died in Chicago 7 April 1953.
He was born in Chicago 31 Oct. 1869, a son of Austin Clement, born in Bridgewater, Vt., 19 Sept. 1842, died in Chicago 30 March 1918, whose wife, married in Adrian, Mich., 18 June 1867, was Sarah Montgomery, born in Pittsburgh, Pa., 9 Oct. 1843, died in Chicago 9 Sept. 1917, a daughter of Samuel and Jane (Reasoner) Montgomery. Austin Clement was president of the Pope Steel and Wire Company.
Allan Montgomery Clement married in Chicago, 30 Jan. 1894, Grace Adelaide Grover, who survived him, born in Chicago 1 July 1874, daughter of Denison Franklin Grover. The children were; (a) Austin Arthur, born 7 March 1895, died in 1953, married Corinne Ione Dewey, and (b) Franklin Grover, born 15 June 1899.
Mr. Clement was a stock broker in Chicago. He was a member of the Exmore Club, the Chicago Athletic Club, and the South Shore Club.
His line of descent from his immigrant ancestor follows: (1) Robert Clement of an armigerous family, was baptized at Cosby, Leicestershire, England, 14 Dec 1595, died in Haverhill, Mass., 29 Sept. 1658, married, first, before 1615, Judith ----, who married, secondly, as his second wife, John Whitney, of Water-

town, Mass. He came to Massachusetts in 1642. (2) Robert, born in England about 1634, died in Haverhill in 1714, married 8 Dec. 1652 Elizabeth Fawne, who died in Haverhill 27 May 1715. (3) John, born in Haverhill 16 Sept. 1653, died there 16 May 1792, married there, 22 Feb. 1676, Elizabeth Ayer, born in Haverhill 10 Nov. 1652, died there about 1699, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Palmer) Ayer. He was a soldier in King Philip's War. (4) Samuel, born in Haverhill 2 Nov. 1677, died there 3 Oct. 1754, married in Haverhill, 11 July 1705, Ruth Peasley, born there 25 Feb. 1684, died after 1759, daughter of Joseph and Ruth (Barnard) Peasley. (5) Lieut. Samuel, born in Haverhill 2 May 1730, died there 24 Dec. 1803, married in Haverhill, 13 Dec. 1750, Anna Gage, born in Bradford, Mass., 11 March 1732/3, died before 1790, daughter of Ebenezer and Priscilla (Kimball) Gage. He was a member of the Haverhill Company in 1757. He was a Lieutenant in the Revolution. (6) Capt. Ebenezer, born in Haverhill 1 Sept. 1770, did in Chester, Vt., 21 Feb. 1820. He married in Haverhill, 18 Jan. 1793, Edith Rogers, born in Londerry, N. H., 21 July 1768, died in Hydeville, Vt., 12 March 1852, daughter of William and Abigail (Tirrell) Rogers. He was a sea captain. (7) Ebeneser, born in Haverhill 2 May 1799, died in Adrian, Mich., 17 July 1878, married in Bridgewater, Vt., 3 April 1828, Adaline Lamb, born in Bridgewater 12 March 1808, died in Adrian 5 March 1895, a daughter of Aaron and Abigail (Lewis) Lamb.
