Abigail[2 daughter of Thomas1 and first wife Mary (-----) Tarbell, of Watertown and Groton,] was living 1719; m. in Watertown, "last of September", 1672, Joshua Whitney of Watertown and Groton.

19. JONATHAN4 TARBELL (Thomas4, Thomas3, Thomas2, Thomas1), married at Groton, Dec. 12, 1754, Lydia, daughter of Ebenezer and Elizabeth (Whitney) Farnsworth, born Dec. 20, 1729. Jonathan was in the French and Indian wars from Groton. He died prior to Mar. 11, 1788, when administration upon his estate was requested. The settlement of his estate, dated Apr. 8, 1789, was made between wife Lydia, and the four children named below. Lydia died prior to Sept. 10, 1806, according to deeds.
Children, born at Groton:
  1. Jonathan6, b. Oct. 23, 1755.
  2. Thomas, b. Oct. 17, 1758; m. July 21, 1789, Molly Farnsworth.
  3. Ebenezer, b. Sept. 10, 1762; m. Jan. 14, 1783, Sarah Warren.
  4. Solomon, b. Sept. 10, 1762; d. at Lunenburg, Mar. 17, 1856, aged 93 yrs. 6 mos. 7 ds.; m. Feb 17, 1785, Molly Bennett, who d. at Lunenburg, June 7, 1852, aged 91. Each at the time of death was "the oldest inhabitant" of that town.

Asa[6 Tarbell, son of John5 and Hannah (Farnsworth) Tarbell (William4, Thomas3, Thomas2, Thomas1)], b. Mar. 18, 1772; d. June 9, 1861; m. June 19, 1803, Relief Whitney. [Footnote: Edmund C.9 Tarbell, the celebrated artist of Boston, is a descendant of Asa6 Tarbell through his eldest son, Edmund7, whose son Edmund Whitney8 Tarbell was father of the artist. Professor Frank Bigelow8 Tarbelll of the University of Chicago is a grandson of Asa6 Tarbell through his son John7 Tarbell.]

489. ISAIAH5 WHITNEY (Abraham4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), born in Harvard, Mass., Oct. 6, 1751, married in Concord, Mass., Feb. 28, 1776, Mary, born in Concord Mar. 17, 1756, daughter of Francis and Mary (Hayward) Wheeler.
Their children (not mentioned in Whitney Genealogy) were:
  1. Mary Hayward, b. Mar. --, 1777.
  2. Francis Wheeler, b. Nov. 30, 1778.
  3. Isaiah, b. Sept. 8, 1781.
  4. Rebecca, b. Feb. 15, 1784.
  5. Ruth, b. Apr. 17, 1786.
  6. George, b. Dec. 16, 1788.
  7. Amos, b. Mar. 9, 1795.
