His parents emigrated from New York to Georgia, in 1785, and while on their way thither he was born at Hillsboro, N. C. When a lad he went from Georgia to Charlestown, S. C., and thence before his majority to Philadelphia. For many years he was teller in the Schuylkill Bank. In July, 1832, he moved to Port Carbon, Pa., and was cashier of the branch of the bank there until 1840, when he went to a farm near Orwigsburg, Pa., and thence to Pottsville, in 1845, where he died.
