I. Harrison Whitney, b. in Southeast, N. Y., 22 Dec. 1831; a merchant; married in Lewisboro', N. Y., 4 July 1853, by Rev. W. W. H. Smith, Methodist, to Hannah Maria Hoyt, who was born in Poundridge, N. Y., 15 June 1831, dau. of Linus and Lydia (Weeks) Hoyt.1 Besides dwelling in Poundridge and Lewisboro', they have lived in Norwalk and Wolcottville, Conn., one year each; and, in 1867, settled in Waterbury, Conn., where they resided in Nov. 1874. He was then a member of the firm of J. F. Rusco & Co.,. 3 Hotchkiss Block, Waterbury. He enlisted at Wolcottville, 4 Aug. 1862, in Co. C, 19th Reg., Conn. Vol. Infantry, afterward the 2d Conn. Heavy Artillery; and was discharged 26 May 1865, at Mower Hospital, Philadelphia, Penn., having been promoted to the grade of corporal, and taken part in the battles of North Anna, Tolopotomy Creek, and Cold Harbor, 1 June 1864, where he was permanently disabled by a gunshot wound in the left elbow.
