2696 IX. Oramel Griffin Gates, b. in Perry, N. Y., 3 Nov. 1818; married at Napoli, N. Y., 4 Jan. 1839, Harriet Waterman; married (2d), Louisa Horr; and was living at Beaver Dam, Wis., in May 1874. 7890
2697 X. Betsey Gates, b. in Perry, N. Y., 17 Ap. 1821; married, 25 Nov. 1847, at her father's house in Ellington, N. Y., by her brother, Rev. Lorison Gates, to Albert Gallatin Brainerd, a farmer, son of Leonard and Mindwell (Hagar) Brainerd, of Munson, Ohio, formerly or Westmoreland, N. H., where he was born, 20 May 1822. They dwelt in Munson from 6 Dec. 1847 to 6 Dec. 1851; and then settled at Ellington, where they were living in May 1874, on the homestead of her father. 7892

2698 I. Rosanna Phippany, b. at Hinesburgh, Vt.; married Cyrus Grout; and was living at Pembroke, N. Y., in May 1874, a widow, without children. She died 8 Feb. 1875.
2699 II. Walter Phippany, b. at Hinesburgh, Vt., about 1803; died unmarried, at Pittsford, N. Y., about 1823, aged about 20 years.
2700 III. Horace Phippany, b. at Hinesburgh, Vt., married Elizabeth Blanchard; and died at Lyndonville, N. Y., in Oct. 1850. 7893
2701 IV. George James Phippany, b. at Hinesburgh, Vt, 6 Dec. 1811; a merchant; married at Bennington, N. Y., 16 Oct. 1836, Charity Maria Crane, dau. of Amherst and Polly (Brooks) Crane, of Batavia, N. Y., where she was born 28 Nov. 1816. They dwelt in Ellington, N. Y., till 1 May 1853; and then moved to Albion, Mich., where they were living in May 1874. She died 27 Jan. 1875. 7896

2702 I. James Brooks, b. at St. Albans, Vt., 11 Jan. 1804; a farmer; married, 20 March 1828, at Essex, Vt., by Rev. Asaph Morgan, Congregational, to Mary Ann Lucas, dau. or William and Hannah (Miller) Lucas, of Essex, where she was born, 14 Oct. 1804. They settled at St. Albans in 1829; and moved, in 1870, to Georgia, Vt., where they were living in Sept. 1874. 7898
