(2d), 20 June 1864, at Fall River, Mass., Garaphelia Gallatin Howard, dau. of Albert and Hannah Stone (Mason) Howard, of Fall River, formerly of Charlestown, Mass., where she was born 29 Dec. 1840. He dwelt in Boston from 1849 till 1869; and then settled in Baltimore, Md., where he was living in 1874.

I. Curtis Russell Whitney, b. at Frederickstown, now Kent, N. Y., 11 Jan. 1792; a tanner, currier and farmer; married in Kent, "sometime during the war of 1812", Rhoda Hawkins, of Warwick, N. Y., dau. of John Hawkins. He married (2d), Elizabeth Merritt, born in 1797, dau. of William and Charity (Lockwood) Merritt, and widow of George Gould, of Patterson, N. Y. He settled in Patterson; moved, about 1833, to Superior, Mich.; and went thence to Victor, Mich., where he died 25 Oct. 1873. He was buried in DeWitt; and there his widow dwelt, with her son, James Volney Whitney, in March 1874. He was a soldier in the war of 1812.

II. Silas Whitney, b. at Frederickstown, now Kent, N. Y., about 1794; was captain of a company of men from Southeast, N. Y., in the 136th N. Y. S. Militia, who served for four months at Greenwich Barracks, in New York City, in the war of 1812; died unmarried, in Middletown, N. J., about 15 Oct. 1824.

III. Bradley Francis Whitney, b. at Red Mills, in Southeast, N. Y., about 1796; a tanner and currier, and, in the latter part of his life, a farmer; married Ann Birch, born in Patterson, N. Y., dau. of Silas Birch. He was a soldier in the war of 1812. He settled in Carmel, N. Y.; moved thence to Hennepin, Ill.; and died at Chicago, on his way east, to visit his relatives, about 1837 or 1838. His widow married again; and is supposed, by her first husband's brothers, to be dead.

IV. Peter Radcliff Whitney, b. at Red Mills, in Southeast, N. Y., 22 May 1798; married at Patterson, N. Y., 4 Jan. 1826, Eliza Baker, dau. of Josiah and ----- (Green) Baker. She died at Patterson in Feb. 1827, and was buried in the graveyard at Milltown, in Southeast, N. Y. He married (2d), at Kent, N. Y., 13 Dec. 1830, Dorcas Baldwin, born at Carmel, N. Y., 7 Jan. 1798, dau. of James and Susan (Vaill) Baldwin. They lived at Whitney's Corner, in Southeast, about one mile west of Dykeman's Station, in 1873. He was a tanner and currier, for a few years; then a school-teacher, a trader, and later a farmer; and was, for several years, a magistrate and assistant-judge of the county. He lived at one time in Patterson.
