4678 I. William Marcus Whitney, b. at Darien, Conn., 25 Aug. 1834; bap. there, 1 May 1835; a carpenter; married by Rev. Frederick Alvord, pastor of the Congregational Church in Darien, 29 May 1867, to Mary E. Bates. He enlisted at Darien, 6 Sept. 1862, as first-lieut. of Co. C, 28th Reg., Conn. Vol. Infantry; and was mustered out at New Haven, Conn., 28 Aug. 1863. He was living at Darien in June 1874.
4679 II. Horace Whitney, b. at Darien, Conn., 14 June 1836; bap. there in Aug. 1836; a carpenter; married at Syosset, L. I., 25 Ap. 1866, Lavinia Nichols; and was living at Darien in June 1874. He enlisted there, 12 Aug. 1862, as corporal, in Co. H, 17th Reg., Conn. Vol. Infantry; was promoted to a lieutenancy, and mustered out with his regiment.
4680 III. Charles Stuart Whitney, b. at Darien, Conn., in 1838; bap. there, 31 Aug. 1838; a gardener; married at Darien, 29 Ap. 1868, Susan B. Knapp, of Wilton, Conn. He enlisted at Darien in 1861, as sergeant, in Co. G, 10th Reg., Conn. Vol. Infantry.
4681 IV. Walter Smith Whitney, b. at Darien, Conn., 26 May 1840; bap. there 4 Sept. 1840; and was living at Darien in June 1874.
4682 V. George Albert Whitney, b. at Darien, Conn., 2 July 1842; a cooper; married at Tarentum, Penn., 24 Nov. 1868, by Rev. Carson Read, Presbyterian, to Elizabeth Antoinette Ferris, whose parents, Hanford and Margaret (Hare) Ferris, lived in Tarentum, where she was born 12 Sept. 1845. They settled in Darien; and in Jan. 1873, went to Tarentum, where they were residing temporarily in July 1874, intending to return to Darien the following Winter. He enlisted at Darien, 26 July 1862, as a private, in Co. B, 17th Reg., Conn. Vol. Infantry; and was mustered out 19 July 1865, as a corporal, having taken part in the battles of Chancellorsville, Gettysburgh, Charlotte, and several skirmishes in Florida. 12062
4683 VI. Sarah Matilda Whitney, b. at Darien, Conn., 28 Feb. 1848; bap. there, 1 Sept. 1848; and was living at Darien in Sept. 1874, unmarried.
