He married 17 Oct 1842, Canaan, NH, Sarah W. Towle, daughter of John and Miriam (Watson) Towle. She was born 13 Aug 1822, Canaan, NH, and died 1 Oct 1907, Canaan, NH.[3][4]

Alice Medora Whitney, b. 21 Nov 1860, Canaan, NH;[10] d. 8 Jan 1946, Wentworth, NH; m.(1) 22 May 1876, Hanover, NH, Frank St. Clair;[11] m.(2) 10 Oct 1881, Rumney or Laconia, NH, Alden E. Hardy; they were divorced on 21 Nov 1891, on grounds of adultery. Alice and Alden were remarried 14 Mar 1894, Laconia, NH. In 1906, she was living in Concord, MA, at 4 Monroe St., as widow of Alden E. Hardy. He was b. 20 Nov 1859, Georgetown, MA, son of Jonathan Bailey and Catherine Hinkson (Hardy) Hardy, and d. 11 Mar 1903, Wentworth, NH, aged 43 years.[12][13][14]
