Alexis Randolph8 Whitney (Nathan7, Nathan6, Jonathan5, Jonathan4, Jonathan3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Nathan7 and Sarah (Gray) Whitney, was born 22 Feb 1824, Orleans County, NY, and died after 1880.
He married, 14 Aug 1851, Mary J. Oakley. She was born 14 Aug 1830, Hillsdale, NY, and died after 1880.
Alexas R. Whitney was born in Orleans County, NY, and was but fourteen years of age when his parents migrated to Lee County, IL. 14 Aug 1851, he was married to Mary J. Oakley. His sons are married, associated with the father in the extensive business of the culture and shipping of fruit and the manufacture and sale of cider. He is prominently identified with horticultural matters in this state, and is associated with Frank Dysart, ex-president of the state board of agriculture and present postmaster at Franklin Grove. Mr. Whitney was one of the organizers of the state board of agriculture, forty years ago, and has been connected with it ever since. Mr. Whitney has steadfastly refused to hold office of any kind, and is the only surviving organizer of the board who has not filled some position; resided Franklin Grove, IL.
