Artemisia⁸ Whitney (Thomas⁷, Phinehas⁶, Samuel⁵, William⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), daughter of Thomas⁷ and Hannah (Preston) Whitney, was born 3 May 1836, Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana, and died 10 Oct 1918, Champaign, Champaign County, Illinois.

She married, 3 May 1857, Delaware County, Indiana, William Price, parentage unknown. He was born about 1829, England, and died before 1900, Champaign, Champaign County, Illinois.

They met when he came to sell paint for the barn and he fell in love with Artymesa, and eloped with her to Champaign, Illinois. He started a paint store there.

In the 1880 Census, Illinois, Champaign County, Champaign Township, p. 48A, is found:
