Arthur Pierce8 Whitney (Reuben Parmenter7, Samuel6, Aaron5, Elnathan4, Eleazar3, Thomas2, John1), son of Reuben Parmenter7 and Rachel Ann (Pierce) Whitney, was born 20 Jan 1842, Southbridge, MA, and died after 1900.

He married, 27 Nov 1872, Alexandria, VA, Margaret Jane Milburn. She was born 16 Jul 1852, VA, and died after 1880 but before 1900.

He was born in Southbridge where he lived until 13 years of age, about as other boys; attended the public school and two terms at the "high school," as it was then termed. At 13 he left home and went to Saratoga County, NY, where he stayed (that is, in Saratoga and Fulton counties), until Jan 1862; when at the age of 20 he enlisted in the 4th Regiment New York Heavy Artillery, served three years, and has since resided in Washington, except about four years that he lived in Alexandria, VA; resided Washington, DC, 1517 Columbia St.

ii. Frederick Pierce Whitney, b. 3 Jan 1881; d. aft. 1900.
