Augustine8 Whitney (Nathan7, Nathan6, Nathan5, David4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Nathan7 and Anne Miles7 (Whitney) Whitney, was born 9 Apr 1825, Westminster, MA,[1] and died 1 May 1899, Westminster, MA, aged 74 years 23 days, of chronic nephritis.[2]

He married, 2 Nov 1854, Westminster, MA, Mary Amanda Titus, daughter of Otis and Sally (Minott) Titus.[3] She was born 4 Dec 1828, Westminster, MA,[4] and died after 1880.

Augustine Whitney, son of Nathan and Ann, married Mary A., daughter of Otis and Sally (Minott) Titus, and resided on the estate owned by the father of his wife in the Central Village. He is a carpenter and contractor, a man of ability and moral worth, respected and honored in the town and general community. He has served as moderator at town meetings, was selectman two years, and representative to the general court in 1865; resided Westminster, MA.

Sweetser says the following:[5]

"Whitney, Augustine8, s. of Nathan7 and Ann, m. Mary A.(6) , dau. of Otis and Sally (Minott) Titus, Nov. 2, 1854, and res. on the estate owned by the f. of his w., in the Central Village. He is a carpenter and contractor - a man of ability and moral worth, respected and honored in the town and general community. He has served as Moderator at tn. meetings, was Selectman 2 yrs., and Rep. to the Gen. Ct. in 1865."
