Benjamin Whitney (Samuel Kellogg, Benjamin), son of Samuel Kellogg and Grace (Fairweather) Whitney, was born about 1794, CT, and died after 1824.

He married, before 1814, Abigail Fancher, daughter of Square and Abigail (Abbott) Fancher. She was born 2 Oct 1795, Pound Ridge, NY, and died after 1824.

Children of Benjamin and Abigail (Fancher) Whitney:

i. Lewis Watson Whitney, b. 22 Aug 1814, CT, Wilton, CT; m. Angeline -----.
ii. William Whitney, b. 25 Jan 1816, Wilton, CT; m. Hannah Metcalf St. John.
iii. Harriet Whitney, b. 15 May 1817, Wilton, CT.
iv. Legrand Whitney, b. 9 Feb 1820, Wilton, CT; m.(1) Esther Whitlock; m.(2) Nancy J. -----.
v. Samuel Whitney, b. 15 Oct 1822, Wilton, CT; m. Amanda Elizabeth Everett.
vi. James Whitney, b. 16 Apr 1824; m. Sarah A. Tuttle.


He may or may not be identical to Benjamin Whitney of Wilton who married in 1826, Amelia Mead. If they are the same, Abigail would be his first wife and Amelia the second.

While researching The Whitney family of Connecticut, David Williams Patterson collected information on this Whitney family. This material is currently located in the Connecticut Historical Society in Hartford, CT and is a bound manuscript of about 150 pages. It has not yet been examined by members of the Whitney Research Group.
