Benjamin Dodge8 Whitney (Abner7, Jesse6, David5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Abner7 and Mary (Grapham) Whitney, was born 26 May 1832, Saco, ME,[1] and died 22 Dec 1907, Kaimuki Village, Honolulu, Hawaii Territory.

He married, 22 Nov 1868, Honolulu, Oahu, Sandwich Islands (Hawaii), Sarah O'Neill. She was born 11 Jan 1838, Limerick Bridge, County Kildare, Ireland, and died 17 Oct 1888, Honolulu, Oahu, Sandwich Islands.

Benjamin was a Mexican War veteran with a pension from the U.S. government. Both are buried in O'ahu Cemetery, Honolulu, HI.

i. Benjamin Bernard Whitney, b. 22 Nov 1870, Honolulu, Oahu, Sandwich Islands; d. 25 Oct 1911, Honolulu, Oahu, HI.
ii. Elizabeth A. Whitney, b. 8 Jan 1873, Honolulu, Oahu, Sandwich Islands; d. 23 Dec 1959, HI; m. 14 Mar 1894, Honolulu, Rudolph Leopold Auerbach, b. 24 Apr 1858, Edmonton, Middlesex, England, d. 24 Mar 1925, Honolulu, HI. They res. Hilo and Honolulu, HI. He was an accountant. They had five children. Both are buried in O'ahu Cemetery, Honolulu, HI.
iii. Gertrude Whitney, b. 21 Aug 1876, Honolulu, Oahu, Sandwich Islands; d. 1948, HI; m. 19 Jul 1898, Matthew J. Scanlon, b. 31 Mar 1872, Rodeo, CA; d. 23 Jul 1946, Honolulu, HI. They resided in Honolulu, HI. No children are found. Both are buried in O'ahu Cemetery, Honolulu, HI.
