Caleb4 Whitney (William3, Joshua2, John1), son of William3 and Margaret (Mirick) Whitney,[1] was born 10 Sep 1721, Plainfield, CT,[2] and died unknown, possibly at Pottsville, PA.[3]

He "of Norwich" married 18 Oct 1743, Norwich, CT, Margaret Tracy "of Preston",[4] daughter of Jedediah and Margaret (Rix) Tracy.[5] She was born 27 Oct 1718, Preston, CT,[6] and died unknown, possibly at Pottsville, PA.[7]

"... res. Norwich and Middletown, Conn., and Pottsville, Pa."[8]

iv. Jedediah Whitney, b. 13 Nov 1751, Norwich, CT.[14] "He was a goldsmith and killed in battle Aug, 25, 1778. In a small volume of the Children's Bible, pub. London, 1759, the property of Edith M. DELORNE, of Sumter, S, C., is the following: "Peggy WHITNEY, her Bible, given her by her grandfather, Caleb WHITNEY and grandmother; Margaret WHITNEY, July 29, 1783. This book we gave to our son Jedediah, who was slain in battle. Aug, 28, 1783, a goldsmith by trade, in the 25th year of his age." He d. 28 Aug 1778, Norwich, CT.[15]
