Canfield Lansing7 Whitney (John Veits6, Samuel Platt5, Uriah4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of John Veits6 and Mary (Lansing)(Graves) Whitney, was born 28 Jan 1848, Montville, OH, and died, 23 Dec 1943, St. Petersburg, FL.

He married firstly, 11 Nov 1872, Barton, OH, Roseltha May White, daughter of James and Rosanna (Phillips) White. She was born 16 Mar 1854, Middlefield, OH, and died 3 Jan 1944. Apparently he and Roseltha must have divorced, because he had other wives.

He allegedly married secondly, Jeanette Heter. She was born 16 Jan 1854, Bellevue, OH.

He definitely married, secondly or thirdly, about 1893, Emma Smith, She was born 12 May 1853, and died 21 Mar 1913, Thomasville, GA.

He was a nurseryman, and teacher. He resided Montville, OH, 1874, and was then the managing partner of the firm of John V. Whitney & Son, proprietors of the Green Valley Nurseries. He has taught in a public school, one term each year, for ten years.
