Charles6 Whitney (Samuel5, Abraham4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of Samuel5 and Anne (Guire) Whitney, was born 29 Aug 1789, St. John, NB, and died 8 Oct 1855, St. John, NB.

He married, 1 Sep 1816, St. John, NB, Sally Forrester (Stanton) Harding, daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Forrester) Stanton. She was born 8 Dec 1794, St. John, NB, and died after Jan 1874. She had married firstly, date and place unknown, ----- Harding.

Phoenix says the following:

". . . an officer of the Commissariat . . . . He resided, with very short exceptions, at St. John. . . . . She was yet living at St. John, in Jan. 1874."

Children of Charles6 and Sally Forrester (Stanton)(Harding) Whitney, all born St. John, NB:

i. Charlotte7 Whitney, b. 30 May 1817; d. 15 Jul 1818, St. John, NB, and was buried there.
ii. Charles Henry Whitney, b. 26 Jan 1819; m. Mary Ann Condon.
iii. James Grigor Whitney, b. 17 Dec 1820; d. 11 Oct 1823, St. John, NB, and was buried there.
iv. William Whitney, b. 7 Feb 1823; m. Mary Mitchell.
v. James Grigor Whitney, b. 23 Oct 1824; d. 22 Aug 1837, St. John, NB, and was buried there.
vi. Charlotte Whitney, b. 23 Oct 1826; gentlewoman; was living in Duke Street, St. John, in 1874, unmarried.
vii. Louisa Whitney, b. 2 Jul 1829; d. 1 Aug 1830, St. John, NB, and was buried there.

Notes

Several public trees at Ancestry.com give him a first wife Sarah Mosher, b. 1791, and by her a son, Capt. Henry Whitney, b. 24 Oct 1812, Saint John, NB, m. Mary Storey Parry. If so, Sarah Mosher must have died soon after her son's birth. No proof of this has yet been found. See Henry's page for him and his descendants.
