Charles Crosby7 Whitney (Stephen6, Stephen5, Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Stephen6 and Abigail (Mayberry) Whitney, was born 30 Mar 1829, Gray, ME, and died 28 June 1901, South Meriden, CT.

He "of Meriden" married, 23 Nov 1853, Wethersfield, CT, Maria Sarah Dix, "of Wethersfield",[1] daughter of Samuel and Eliza (Bourne) Dix of Wethersfield, CT. She was born 23 Mar 1835, in Wethersfield, CT, and died 11 Aug 1919. Both are buried in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden, CT.

Charles was a mechanic, and was a veteran of the Civil War, for which he and Maria received a pension.

He resided in South Meriden, CT.

iv. Ada Maria Whitney, b. 13 Mar 1862, prob. Meriden, CT; d. 1924; buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden, CT; m. Alexander McRae.
v. Alura Eaton "Lula" Whitney, b. 6 Aug 1867, prob. Meriden, CT; m. Edward Marsh Goodwin. She was called "Lula" in the 1870 and 1880 censuses. In the 1900 census, she resides with her parents and her son, Charles A. Whitney. She is listed as "single" in the census. She is called Alura Whitney Goodwin in her father's pension file. Child:
