He married 4 Jan 1893, Burr Oak, Winneshiek Co., IA, Nellie May Miller, daughter of Charles Eugene and Emma J. (Rollins) Miller. She was born 5 May 1873, Prosper, Fillmore Co., MN, died 16 Sep 1945, Colby, Clark Co., WI, and was buried in Colby Cemetery.
Claude died of heat stroke while working in the fields of the family farm, leaving Nellie with 2 very young children.
She married secondly, about 1897, Lyman Oatman Hudson, son of George Babcock and Pamela Ann (Whitfield) Hudson. He was born 20 Jan 1853, PA, died 29 Dec 1935, Colby, Clark Co., WI, buried in Colby Cemetery.
