Curtis Russell7 Whitney (Silas6, Aaron5, Samuel4, Richard3, John2, Henry1), son of Silas6 and Nancy (Russell) Whitney, was born 11 Jan 1792, Frederickstown (now Kent), NY, and died 25 Oct 1873, Victor, MI.
He married firstly, "sometime during the war of 1812", Kent, NY, Rhoda Hawkins, of Warwick, NY, daughter of John Hawkins.
He married secondly, Elizabeth (Merritt) Gould, daughter of William and Charity (Lockwood) Merritt. She was born in 1797, and died after Mar 1874. She had married firstly George Gould, of Patterson, NY.
Phoenix says the following:
- . . . a tanner, currier and farmer . . . . He settled in Patterson; moved, about 1833, to Superior, Mich.; and went thence to Victor, Mich., where he died 25 Oct. 1873. He was buried in DeWitt; and there his widow dwelt, with her son, James Volney Whitney, in March 1874. He was a soldier in the war of 1812.
